Every election cycle we are told “This is the most important election of your lifetime.” This time it’s not just a matter of financial policy or favorite candidates that everyone is arguing about. This time there is a dangerous plan from the Heritage Foundation which is supported by over 100 other conservative organizations.
Project 2025 is the far-right extremists’ vision for America. It’s a plan that has been formed by politically powerful allies and supporters of Donald Trump that he will implement if he wins a second presidential term in 2024.
Project 2025’s dangerous plans:
- End no fault divorce
- Completely ban abortions without exceptions
- Ban contraceptives
- Create more tax breaks for corporations and the 1%
- Put higher taxes on the working class
- Eliminate unions and worker protections
- Raise the retirement age
- Cut Social Security
- Cut Medicare
- End the Affordable Care Act
- Raise prescription drug prices
- Eliminate the Department of Education
- Use public, taxpayer money for private religious schools
- Teach Christian beliefs in public schools
- End free and discounted school lunch programs
- End civil rights and DEI protections in government
- Ban African American and gender studies in all levels of education
- Ban books and curriculum about slavery
- End climate protections
- Increase Arctic drilling
- Deregulate big business and the oil industry
- Promote and expatiate capital punishment
- End marriage equality
- Condemn single mothers while promoting only “Traditional Families”
- Defund the FBI and Homeland Security
- Use the military to break up domestic protests
- Force mass deportation of immigrants and incarceration in “camps”
- End birth right citizenship
- Ban Muslims from entering the country
- Eliminate federal agencies like the FDA, EPA, NOAA and more
- Continue to pack the Supreme Court and lower courts with right-wing judges
It’s an exhausting list that should frighten everyone! Project 2025’s goals are deeply unpopular with most Americans.
The proposals also call for eliminating job protections for thousands of government employees, who could then be replaced by political appointees loyal to Donald Trump. This would further erode any checks and balances secured by civil servants who have been in place through multiple administrations.
Do your part to protect Democracy and our American way of life
- Vote for Democrats this November (up and down the ballot!)
- Remind your friends and family that voting matters, and help them make a plan to vote
- Talk about how we are voting for much more than specific candidates! Policies that help everyone, impartial and fair Judges, and civil servants that believe in serving everyone
- Educate everyone you know about the dangers of Project 2025!
- Volunteer for local Democratic organizations
- Write postcards to voters in swing states
- Donate to candidates that share your ideals
- and so much more!
