Social Justice Committee Mtg with Rep. Hernandez @ Zoom

State Representative Barbara Hernandez would like to invite you to attend her monthly Social Justice Committee. This month, Rep. Hernandez will be joined by the Illinois Alliance for Reentry and Justice, who will be leading a conversation on improving social determinants of health from the perspective that healthy people = healthy communities.

Mutual Ground Donation Drive @ Various Locations
Mar 28 – Apr 29 all-day

State Rep. Barbara Hernandez and State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit have partnered to collect donations for Mutual Ground!

Donations will be accepted beginning Monday, March 28th through Friday, April 29th. Donations needed include:

– men and women’s slippers (new or in very good condition)

– men and women’s pajama sets (new or in very good condition)

– XL towels (new)

– gas cards – should be donated directly to Mutual Ground

– Uber/Lyft gift cards  – should be donated directly to Mutual Ground

– glass cleaner

– laundry detergent

– toilet paper

*Note, gift cards and monetary donations will be accepted, but please donate those directly to Mutual Ground.

Older Americans Month Virtual Town Halls with Congresswoman Underwood @ Virtual

Help spread the word to your friends, family, and members of your retiree group and encourage them to join the Illinois Alliance for Retired Americans as we host two Older Americans Month Virtual Town Halls w/special guests Congresswoman Lauren Underwood and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky!

We will honor Congresswoman Underwood and Congresswoman Schakowsky with the 2022 Alliance for Retired Americans Retiree Hero Award for their flawless voting records on issues impacting seniors and workers, and will hear from them the challenges and opportunities for our priorities in Congress.

We’ll also be joined by movement leaders from the Alliance for Retired Americans, Caring Across Generations, and Citizen Action IL who will share what you can do to help advance investment in our nation’s care infrastructure, push back against threats to Social Security, and mobilize to move lawmakers to take action to lower the cost of prescription drugs!
