At 12:30pm CT on Monday, December 4th, Raja Krishnamoorthi will be hosting a virtual town hall with local experts on the ongoing youth mental health epidemic, how best to address it, and what steps parents, health care professionals, and policymakers can take to help those in need.
Following the onset of the pandemic, awareness to do more to address America’s mental health crisis, particularly in teens and young people, has risen, but there is still more to be done at all levels, particularly as we confront the related substance abuse challenges facing our nation. You can RSVP to the town hall here.

If you are interested in supporting your county board, please attend a meeting on Monday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kane County Dems office. 473 Dunham Road – Suite 102. Invite friends who may show interest in supporting this board.
I am writing to seek your help and support for our County Board. There is an active group of people attending the county monthly board meetings who are agitators and disrupters and are preventing the board from doing the governing of the county. These groups like, Moms for liberty, Three headed Eagle, Warriors among others want to keep government small and not spend money on any services EVER. They were successful in making enough noise to keep the board from voting for a badly needed tax levy for county services. They are winning the battle by just showing up! The county will run out of reserves in two years and will struggle to maintain the services we have come to expect in our beautiful community.
There are new concerns and issues that need addressing but this group of people are at every meeting to make sure not one dime is spent. There has not been any opposing perspectives from the public and the board is inclined to listen to the loudest voices. We would like to build a bench of volunteers to help support our county board members. What do we need from you?
If you or someone you know could:
- Attend meetings to be present and show support
- Make signs and hold them up during the meetings around various issues
- Sign up and speak during public comments
- Write letters to the board in support of various initiatives
- Post on Social Media/ Nextdoor App
The board and various subcommittees meet 4 or 5 times a month. The meetings are during the mornings/day so it requires individuals who have weekday flexibility.
We will hold a meeting of those interested in hearing more about what the County Board’s issues are and what they are proposing and strategies to support them ongoing.

Congressman Krishnamoorthi hosts a town hall to discuss climate change with meteorologist extraordinaire Tom Skilling.
On Monday at 12:15 CDT, I will host a town hall with legendary former WGN-TV Chief Meteorologist Tom Skilling. Tom, recently retired from his post at WGN-TV, will join me to discuss climate change, its effect on severe weather patterns in Chicagoland and nationwide, and the path forward for concerned citizens. Following remarks from Tom and I, the audience will have an opportunity to participate in a Q&A period. You can RSVP for my town hall here. I look forward to seeing you there.
The Kane County convention is held every two years following the primary election on even-numbered years. This is when all new PCs are officially elected and can thus elect the Chair and Executive Board members of the Kane County Democrats. This is a weighted vote based on the number of Democratic ballots pulled in your precinct for that primary election. We will have the weighted number once the ballot is certified following the March 19, 2024 election. The scheduled County Convention is a set date required by Illinois state law, which will take place this year on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, 730pm.
If you are a newly elected PC for the 2024-2026 term, please email us at info@kanedems.org to ensure that your email is included in our invite. Please note that this is a private event and that only elected and appointed PCs will be allowed in.
