Kane County Democratic Women “Women & Power Speakers Series” Hosts A Panel Discussion Entitled “Justice Partners: The Impact of Women on the Justice System.”

ST. CHARLES, March 15, 2024 – The Kane County Democratic Women (KCDW) will host a forum entitled “Justice Partners: The Impact of Women on the Justice System” on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Geneva Public Library, 227 S. 7th St., Geneva, IL. The purpose of the forum is to bring the community together to learn about the unique roles and perspectives that women bring to different roles in the justice system, obstacles and challenges (past and present) on the path to those positions, and implementation of changes to remove obstacles. The panel consists of a moderator and 4  speakers.

  • Moderator: Judge Julio Valdez, Circuit Judge for the Kane County 16th Judicial District. Judge Valdez was honored in 2023 by the Judges Pro Bono Committee for giving a voice to the underrepresented in the community throughout his career as a lawyer and judge.
  • Judge Sandra Parga, Kane County Associate Judge. Judge Parga practiced civil, criminal, and family law for 23 years before becoming an associate judge in the Juvenile Justice Court. Judge Parga is bilingual and serves on the Language Access and Judicial Education Committees.
  • Dr. Alexandra Tsang, Psy.D., Chief Psychologist/Director, Kane County Diagnostic Center. Dr. Tsang has conducted numerous assessments for the courts, school districts, and police departments. She has also helped to establish programs for juveniles in detention.
  • Jamie Mosser, Kane County State’s Attorney. Jamie has served as head of the Domestic Violence Unit where she prosecuted misdemeanor and felony crimes. She also worked in Drug Rehabilitative Court. In 2020, she was elected to the state’s attorney position.
  • Amy Johnson, Undersheriff for the Kane County Sheriff’s Office. Amy has had many duties at the sheriff’s office, including investigator/detective, field training officer, and juvenile officer. She is a member of the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force as a crime scene investigator.

The forum is free and open to the public. Questions regarding the Women & Power Speaker Series or the Kane County Democratic Women can be sent to KCDW Chair, Carolyn Bird Salazar at chair@kcdwomen.com
